Choosing classic bath hardware
A practical guide to finishes, placement, installation and care — so your towel bars, rings, hooks and shelves look considered and last for years.
1. Pick one finish, then commit
The single biggest upgrade is consistency. Choose one of our three classic finishes and carry it across every piece — bar, ring, hook and holder.
Bright, cool and clean — the timeless default.
Soft, warm-grey and low-glare — hides water spots.
Warm, characterful brass for a classic statement.
2. Get the placement right
- ◆ Towel bars: mount roughly 48 in (1.2 m) from the floor, near but not over the tub.
- ◆ Towel rings: beside the basin, about 20 in (0.5 m) above the counter.
- ◆ Robe hooks: on the door or a clear wall, around 70 in (1.8 m) up.
- ◆ Paper holder: 8–12 in (0.2–0.3 m) in front of the toilet, 26 in (0.66 m) high.
3. Install safely & respect load limits
Wall-mounted hardware requires user installation. Confirm your anchors suit your wall type (drywall, tile, masonry), mount into solid backing where possible, and never exceed the load limit printed for each product.
Our decorative grab bar is a styling and convenience piece only. It is not a medical-grade or ADA safety support and must never be used as a primary load-bearing support, fall-prevention device, or mobility aid.
No-drill adhesive hooks need a clean, dry, smooth surface; removal may leave residue or affect paint and wallpaper.
4. Keep finishes looking new
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemical cleaners, which can dull plating over time. For brass, an occasional metal-safe polish restores warmth.
What we don't sell
Girardplumb focuses on classic decorative bath hardware. We do not sell sanitaryware (toilets, basins, tubs), gas, pressurized, electrical or heated products. For those, please consult a licensed plumber or the appropriate specialist.
